When asked
to describe their music, any one of these guys will usually scratch his
head and say, "Well, it's a bit tough to describe....but it's a lot
of fun to dance to!"
Bijoux Du Bayou started as a traditional Cajun/Zydeco cover band. But
when the guys started performing their own material, other influences
crept into the sound. That's what happens when a bunch of West Coast Canucks
write Louisiana Zydeco.
Although still strongly Cajun and Zydeco rooted, you can hear
New Orleans, Tex-Mex
,
Calypso, Swing,Rock and Country elements coming through Bijoux's distinct
sound. (Review)
The result is a musical gumbo that's sort of Cajun and very Canadian,
making it Canajun music. But when you've got a sound that keeps the dance
floor packed "tout la nuit," as they would say down South in
Cajun Country, who cares what it's called?
